Inspiration When I found out I was pregnant in January 2004, I began to look for fitness activities I could participate in with our new baby. I found in my immediate area (Greater Boston) there was a great need for mom and baby/toddler programs. Being a Pilates instructor by trade and having benefited greatly from practicing STOTT Pilates prior to and throughout my pregnancy, I decided to offer post natal Pilates and Pilates-infused classes to moms and babies. Early on, we offered MOMfit™, MOMswim™ and MOMwalk™. Due to the popularity of these classes, we founded MOMfitters , and since we have added MOMjam™, MOMsign™, MOMtime™, MOMespañol™, Pre-MOMfit™ and Pre-MOMswim™ (our Prenatal Programs) and DADfit™, to our repertoire.
Offering fitness and wellness opportunities for moms (and caregivers) with children as active participants, MOMfitters offers guilt-free activities as babies are always close by your side. These programs afford moms the opportunity to have a feeling of involvement and a sense of community spirit, while bringing up healthy babies together and instilling fitness at an early age. As one MOMfitter shared, "It's a mom 'n baby bonding time, a mom & mom support group and a physical and mental fitness class all at the same time!" We are thrilled to have started MOMfitters, as we have met so many wonderful parents who continue to motivate and inspire us to add new programs.
